BaptismSalvation is God’s free gift of eternal life and forgiveness of sin, which we may have by believing that the Lord Jesus died for us and rose again. When we believe in Christ, we are saved from the penalty of sin. As we grow in the Lord, He continues to free us gradually from the power of sin. Someday, when we get to Heaven we will be saved from the presence of sin.Jesus clearly indicated that children can be saved by believing in Him when He warned in Matthew 18:6 against causing “one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin”. The Greek word for believe in this passage is pisteuo and is the same word used in John 3:16, Acts 16:31 and throughout the New Testament for saving faith, thus teaching us that little children such as these that Jesus was talking about, can be saved. Throughout the New Testament baptism is mentioned hand in hand with salvation and in fact, is commanded of new believers. Baptism is the use of water in a public ceremony to announce to everyone that you have received Jesus Christ as your Savior. Baptism should be the next step in your child’s walk with the Lord.
